In 1901 reportedly there were 55 hotels operating between Telford St and Hunter St West.
Wow!!!. Now only a handful if that !!!!
Take this walk of discovery, rekindle a few memories and marvel at our hotel history as well as pick up a few extra points on the side.
Where was the Locomotive Hotel? Why that name? What of the Blue Peter's previous name? Who was the hotel's architect? The
Princess Royal Hotel!!! Where was that? What hotel was opposite the Royal Hotel in Darby St?
What ever became of the licence of the Centennial Hotel?

Never heard of it.
Rouse's Hotel was not all that far.
You will need good walking shoes. A flat walk but nearly 3 kms round trip.
Bring your image capturing device as the city is sure to change even more.

We meet up at the front of the FORMER NEWCASTLE Civic Station on Hunter Street (across the road from the Civic Theatre)

REMEMBER this is a day time historic walking tour and not a ghost tour.
You will be walking around the city so please bring some water and a hat in case it is a warm day. COVID 19 SAFE regulations will apply with social distancing enforced. If you wish to wear a mask please do so.
