Sunday 11 OCTOBER at Henkel Street Cinema brings you AMERICAN UTOPIA, the eight offering in this year’s Sunday School of Rock series of music documentaries at the Henkel Street Cinema.

The distributors have this to say about the film:

“A filmed version of David Byrne's Broadway show, a unifying musical celebration that inspires audiences to connect to each other and to the global community.”

They’re really not selling it. This 2020 concert film is produced and directed by the legendary Spike Lee (Do The Right Thing, Mo’ Better Blues, Malcom X) and, according to critics, “makes you feel like you’re there”. Talking Heads’ front man David Byrne broke all sorts of boundaries with “Stop Making Sense” which we screened last year. Byrne starts off with an unconventional premise, “what if we could get rid of all the things we didn’t need on stage?” leading to an extraordinary concert experience.
