The Kidd Clinic will be hosting a seminar on Supporting Autistic Women in Therapy Using a Neurodiversity Affirming Approach for psychologists, allied health clinicians and medical practitionersOur experienced psychologists Miriam & Mel will be sharing a wealth of experience, skills and knowledge on working with Autistic women in therapeutic settings. There will be discussion on some of the topics and issues that are common to Autistic women and that often come up in therapy. Some of these include:

  • Pathways to diagnosis.
  • Autistic Identity.
  • Masking.
  • Social Connection.
  • Navigating Family Relationships.
  • Perimenopause & Menopause.
Where: City West Lotteries House 
When: Friday, 21st of June 2024 between 9:30am - 1:30pm (3.5 hours of professional development). 

Tea & coffee will be provided on arrival in addition to morning tea.

Participants will receive a certificate for attending this event. 

Miriam & Mel will be offering follow up supervision sessions to those interested. 

About The Kidd Clinic:

The Kidd Clinic is a psychology clinic located in Perth, Western Australia. We provide a range of evidence-based assessment and therapeutic services to neurodivergent children, adolescent and adults, and others experiencing social and emotional difficulties.

About Miriam:

Dr. Miriam Kirby a clinical psychologist who is passionate about supporting and affirming neurodivergent individuals and their families. Her role includes providing therapeutic support and treatment of co-occurring mental health conditions to individuals of all ages. She also provides parenting support and problem-solving sessions and enjoys helping like-minded people connect through small, interest-based groups.

About Mel:

Mel Turner is an endorsed Counselling Psychologist and has been practising for 17 years. Her previous work has included university settings, not for profit community organisations, custodial and private practice settings. Historically, she has worked across all areas of mental health and has vast experience with anxiety, depression, adjustments issues, emotional regulation and more. Mel is very interested in working with neurodivergent adults and older teens (16 and above) and has a special interest in late diagnosed Autistic/ADHD women. She is also very interested in working with clients in a collaborative way to achieve resilience and well-being and is a passionate Mindfulness and Self-compassion practitioner. Mel uses therapeutic modalities, including, but not limited to, ACT and CBT to help clients achieve their goals.
