Supporting Mokopuna Children Through Uncertain Times Online
Event description
The focus of this workshop will now be on supporting tamariki children and rangatahi young people through uncertain times of stress, anxiety and change. With the changes in alert levels, lockdowns and the ongoing effects of COVID-19 in our community, this is an extremely relevant and important topic. How do we support our Mokopuna children through these uncertain times?
Following the 6Rs of the Trauma Responsive Care model, we will delve into these topics:
- Understanding the effects of stress, anxiety and trauma from a polyvagal lens
- Strategies to support mokopuna children through changes and transitions
- How to create therapeutic environments that promote safety, connection and enhance learning
- How to work with anxiety and stress from a sensory lens
- Practical strategies based on neuroscience that will benefit all children in your classroom or care
Suitable for teachers, teacher aides, caregivers/parents and any professionals working with tamariki children or rangatahi young people.
