Supporting HDR industry engagement in the arts, law and business
Event description
Event information:
Australian research funding and training schemes increasingly value engagement with industry partners, including in
higher degree research (HDR). While definitions of ‘industry’ encompass private/commercial, public sector and
community organisations, non-STEM-based students and supervisors tend to be less visible in the national
conversation on industry-based research.
This panel will discuss the practice and purpose of supporting HDR industry engagement in the arts, law and
business faculties, and reflect on the benefits and complexities of formalising these relationships during
research training and beyond.
Over a delicious lunch, you'll have the opportunity to network with seasoned industry-engaged academics and those new
to the process, fostering valuable connections and fresh perspectives.
Panelists:
Professor Christy Newman, UNSW Arts, Design & Architecture (chair)
Associate Professor Lizzie Muller, UNSW Arts, Design & Architecture
Dr Andy Symington, KPMG
Associate Professor Fei Huang, UNSW Business School
Lizzie Crouch, PhD candidate - UNSW Arts, Design & Architecture
