Join our expert-led, in-person workshops for NSW primary teachers to uncover explicit and effective classroom programs in Phonics and Mathematics. Featuring presentations from authors and the Oxford University Press product teams, these workshops will equip you with strategies and resources to help you maximise student learning and understanding.
You can choose to attend just one session, or both. Select your preferred date, location and sessions at registration.

Join our free Essential Letters and Sounds Australia (ELSA) workshop to find out how Oxford can support you in implementing a cost effective and evidence-based approach to teaching phonics in your school.
Hosted by Oxford University Press' Joanna Lake, this workshop will include:
- Essential Letters and Sounds Australia overview and principles
- An introduction to our Australian experts, Karina Stocker and Dr Nathaniel Swain
- A look at the ELSA phonics sequence, aligned to Letters and Sounds
- An introduction to the program components, with a focus on:
- Complete teacher support (including front-of-class presentations)
- Assessment
- Interventions
- Fully decodable texts
- Information on program implementation, ongoing training and coaching
- Free resources designed to help you implement the program successfully
Each attendee will receive*:
- An Oxford Reading for Comprehension phonics pack, made up of 8 unique titles aligned to the ELSA program

Joanna Lake
Product Manager: Primary, Licensing & Export at OUP ANZ
Joanna Lake is a highly experienced educational publisher. Meet the presenters
Author – Oxford Maths for New South Wales
Most recently the Head of Literacy (P-6) at Melbourne’s Xavier College, Annie has previously held Mathematics and Teaching and Learning Leadership roles at suburban primary schools in north-east Melbourne and is a passionate and experienced teaching practitioner. Annie is also an educational author, has served as editor and a regular contributor to education journals and publications, and recently completed a Master of Education in Allied School Psychology.
Emma Short
