Supporting Queer Neurodivergent Young People: An Interactive Workshop for Parents and Carers
Description
Join us for an interactive online education workshop for parents and carers of queer, questioning and LGBTQIA+ neurodivergent young people.
This session will combine practical information with conversation and shared experiences. There will be space for parents and carers to share their individual stories, experiences and challenges, ask questions and learn from each other.
During the session we'll explore:
🌈 The intersection of neurodivergence, gender and sexuality
🧠 Identity, communication, sensory needs and emotional regulation
💬 Supporting young people who are questioning or exploring their identity
🏡 Creating affirming and supportive environments at home and beyond
❤️ Navigating challenging conversations and family dynamics
🤝 What to do when we get things wrong, including repairing and continuing to learn
📚 Practical strategies, resources and places to find further support
This is an interactive and supportive space, rather than a formal webinar. You don't need to know all the terminology or have all the answers, and you're welcome to share as much or as little as you're comfortable with.
Whether you're just beginning to learn or have been supporting your young person for some time, you're welcome to join us.
