Red Cross and Southern Downs Regional Council invites you to a free 2-hour Supporting the Supporters
Workshop, equipping you with the tools to support your own wellbeing while you support others.
Who should attend?
Whether you're supporting colleagues, clients, communities, friends or family, this workshop will help you build the resilience needed to support others while also looking after yourself.
About the workshop:
Introducing the psychosocial impacts of disruptive events and drawing from disaster recovery principles, this workshop explores:
• the theory behind stress and its impact on people
• the importance of looking after yourself while supporting others
• where to go if you need further assistance.
For anyone working in the community, or involved in disaster recovery.
This Red Cross training is a key skill for anyone who may be at risk from burnout, compassion fatigue, or vicarious trauma.
DRFA Public Acknowledgement:
Relevant CRRO program objectives: working to engage and identify community strengths, needs, aspirations and developmental opportunities, facilitate community planning days and to support and nurture prioritised community recovery and resilience projects.
Disaster event being addressed: 2023-2024 Southern Queensland Bushfires.
Purpose of the funded activity: for anyone living, working in and supporting a community and its members, to learn how to identify common distress reactions, gain knowledge of psychosocial support & practice delivering PFA, develop skills to help promote calm, safety, self-efficacy, connection, and to instil hope.
