SUPPRESSION ACT INFORMATION FORUMS
The Change or Suppression (Conversion) Practices Prohibition Act 2021 will come into operation in February 2022. In response to concerns and questions about the implications of this Act for church and Pastoral ministry, the Baptist Union of Victoria has arranged for the Commissioner of Equal Opportunities and Human Rights to present two information forums for Pastors accredited with the BUV. (The Commission will administer the Act.)
The forums will include a presentation on the background and operation of the Act and there will be opportunity to raise questions directly with the Commissioner.
Please note that these forums will not be an opportunity to debate our diverse theological views on sexuality and gender, but will be limited to the operation of the Act.
When:
1. Wednesday 29th September 1:00pm - 3:00pm
2. Thursday 30th September 10:30am- 12:30pm
Where: Online. Zoom links will be sent out on Monday 27th Sept.
To facilitate discussion, attendance at each forum will be capped at 50 and the sessions will not be recorded.
