Sustainability in the Design & Technologies curriculum with DATTA Vic

Hosted by Sustainability Victoria’s ResourceSmart Schools program, Sustainability in Schools Month is a free online professional learning series taking place every Thursday in November 2024. 

Sustainability forms the foundation of the Design & Technologies curriculum. In an increasingly technological and complex world, this learning area equips students with the knowledge and confidence to understand and creatively respond to design needs and opportunities for a circular economy.

The Design and Technology Teachers Association (DATTA Vic) will explore two education initiatives aimed at addressing the United Nations Sustainability Goals (UNSDG) in schools: Precious Plastics and Digital Design for Sustainability.

Join Laura Murphy, Executive Officer at DATTA Vic and Peter Murphy, Industrial Design lecturer AT RMIT who will provide attendees with:

• An understanding of how sustainability is addressed in the Design & Technologies curriculum
• Ideas for developing new classroom programs on creating preferred futures
• Prompts for creating successful cross-curricular programs in schools.

The Design and Technology Teachers Association (DATTA Vic) is a non-profit organisation formed in 1987 that represents Design and Technologies Teachers (including Systems Engineering, STEM, Textiles, Electronics, Auto & Primary teachers) in education throughout Victoria.
