Every year, over 300,000 tonnes of clothing is either sent to landfill or exported from Australia (Australia Institute, 2024)

The World Environment Day theme is to ‘Beat Plastic Pollution’. What can you do? How does it relate to clothing?

Fiona Peck
Compliance Officer, Textile, Clothing and Footwear Union / Ethical Clothing Australia
Fiona Peck is a Compliance Officer with the Textile, Clothing and Footwear (TCF) Union, working in partnership with Ethical Clothing Australia, completing their accreditation audits. She also works closely with the TCF Union’s Outreach and Outworker Team, supporting workers across Queensland with a focus on vulnerable and home-based employees. Fiona has a strong background in industrial relations, workplace laws, and health and safety, and brings this expertise into her auditing and advisory work. She is deeply passionate about advocating for fair treatment, lawful pay, and safe conditions for all workers in the textile, clothing and footwear industry.
