Sustainable Styling: An evening with Tuihana
Description
Join us for a special evening of sustainable styling with Tuihana Ohia, exploring new ways to wear the clothes you already own and discovering the possibilities of preloved fashion.
We're excited to welcome Tuihana, an award-winning Wellbeing Navigator and Sustainable Stylist who has styled the likes of Stan Walker and Māori fashion icon Nātua. Through her kaupapa of Kākahu Rongoā (clothing as healing), Tuihana encourages people to embrace their own style and feel good in what they wear.
The evening is all about taking a fresh look at your wardrobe and discovering how a little styling know-how can help you get more wear out of the clothes you already love.
Bring along one or two pieces from home that you're not quite sure how to wear. Tuihana will use these alongside a specially selected rack of preloved kākahu (clothing) from Wastebusters to demonstrate different styling ideas, share her favourite thrifting tips and show how to put together outfits that feel like you.
There'll be plenty of opportunities to get involved, try things on and experiment with your own outfits. You'll pick up tips on recognising good-quality secondhand finds, choosing pieces you'll want to wear again and again, and building a wardrobe that fits your style.
It's a relaxed, interactive group workshop where everyone is welcome, whether you're a keen secondhand shopper or just curious to try something new. No styling experience needed, and no need to bring anything from home if you'd rather use the Wastebusters racks!
We'll also have Wastebusters open for a little after-hours shopping. Tasty nibbles and a glass of bubbly or a soft drink included.
