SustainHer Connect Barossa: Hot Seats & Meaningful Connections

Real business conversations. Shared experience. Fresh perspective.

What could become clearer if you had the opportunity to talk through a business question with women who understand what it takes to build and grow something of your own?

Join us for SustainHer Connect Barossa, a welcoming and thoughtfully facilitated morning where the women in the room become the heart of the conversation.

This November, we’re bringing our collaborative Community Hot Seats to the Barossa, following our recent SustainHer Connect gathering in the Adelaide Hills.

It’s an opportunity to celebrate progress, explore genuine business questions, learn from one another and make meaningful connections that can continue well beyond the morning.

What to expect

Throughout our time together, we’ll explore three different kinds of conversations:

Celebrate a Win

Recognising meaningful progress, business milestones and those moments of growth that don’t always receive the attention they deserve. We’ll explore what happened, what was learnt and what others might take from the experience.

Ask the Room

A guided conversation where a woman brings a real business question, challenge or opportunity to the group. We’ll begin by understanding the situation, asking thoughtful questions and sharing relevant experiences before identifying possible next steps.

Behind the Business

An opportunity to hear the experiences, lessons and insights that have shaped another woman’s approach to business. We’ll explore what she’s learnt along the way and what those insights might mean for our own circumstances.

What is a Community Hot Seat?

A SustainHer Hot Seat is a supportive, facilitated conversation focused on a genuine business experience or question.

It’s not about putting someone on the spot or asking the room to solve her business problems.

It’s about listening carefully, asking useful questions, exchanging perspectives and creating space for greater clarity.

You don’t have to volunteer for a hot seat, speak publicly or share a personal challenge to benefit.

You can bring a question, offer an experience or simply listen and reflect. Every form of thoughtful participation is welcome.

More than networking

We know that running a business can mean carrying decisions, ideas and questions that rarely find their way into everyday conversations.

Sometimes, the perspective you need comes from someone who has faced something similar.

At SustainHer, we create space for conversations that go beyond introductions. There’s no pitching, no pressure to impress and no expectation that you have everything figured out.

With Odette de Beer guiding the morning, you’ll have opportunities to build relationships, hear different perspectives and consider what you can take forward into your own business.

Our guiding approach is simple:

Connection → Clarity → Action

Our hope is that every woman leaves with meaningful connections, a useful insight and one practical step she can take within the following seven days.

FAQs

  • What if I’m nervous about coming on my own?

You are very welcome to come on your own — many women do.

SustainHer Connect is facilitated, so you won’t be expected to walk into a room and figure out how to “network.” You’ll be welcomed in and given natural opportunities to connect with other women throughout the session.

  • Is SustainHer Connect a networking event?

Yes — but probably not in the way you’re used to.

SustainHer Connect is designed around meaningful conversation and genuine connection rather than pitching, selling or collecting business cards. The session is facilitated so conversations have more depth and everyone has an opportunity to participate.

  • Who is SustainHer Connect Barossa for?

SustainHer Connect Barossa is for women in business, business owners, entrepreneurs, consultants, freelancers and professionals across the Barossa Valley and surrounding communities.

You don’t need to be at a particular stage of business. Whether you’re starting, growing, changing direction or simply looking for stronger local connections, you’re welcome.

  • Do I need to have an established business to attend?

    No.

You don’t need a large business, a team, impressive revenue figures or everything figured out. SustainHer Connect is for women at different stages of business and professional life who value connection, thoughtful conversation and growth.

  • What can I expect on the day?

Expect a relaxed, welcoming and facilitated two-hour session with opportunities to connect with other local women in business, take part in guided conversation and reflect on what’s happening in your business.

The aim is for you to leave with fresh perspective, useful connections and a practical next step you can take into the month ahead.

  • Do I need to prepare anything?

    No preparation is needed.

You don’t need an elevator pitch, presentation or stack of business cards. Simply come as you are and be willing to join the conversation.

  • Will I have to introduce myself or speak in front of everyone?

There may be opportunities to introduce yourself and contribute to the conversation, but SustainHer Connect is not about putting people on the spot or making anyone perform.

The session is facilitated to create a supportive environment where you can participate in a way that feels natural.

  • When does SustainHer Connect Barossa take place?

SustainHer Connect Barossa is held on the third Thursday of each month from 10:30am to 12:30pm.

Please check the event date shown at the top of this page when booking, as each session is ticketed individually.

  • Where is the event held?

SustainHer Connect Barossa is held at Barossa Chateau in Lyndoch, South Australia.

It’s conveniently located for women travelling from across the Barossa Valley and surrounding communities, including Tanunda, Nuriootpa, Angaston, Gawler, Kapunda, Eden Valley and Mount Pleasant.

  • Is there parking?

Yes. Free onsite parking is available at Barossa Chateau.

  • Will there be coffee or refreshments?

Yes. Your ticket includes a tea or coffee along with freshly baked scones.

Grab your drink, settle in and enjoy the conversation.

  • What should I wear?

Whatever makes you feel comfortable and like yourself.

There’s no formal dress code and no need to dress for a traditional corporate networking event. Smart casual or everyday business attire is perfectly appropriate.

  • Can I attend if I don’t live in the Barossa Valley?

    Absolutely.

While SustainHer Connect Barossa is designed to help build stronger connections among women in business across the Barossa and surrounding region, you don’t need to live in the Barossa to attend.

  • Will photographs or video be taken at the event?

Photography and/or video may be captured during SustainHer Connect for marketing, promotional and archival purposes.

By purchasing a ticket and attending, you acknowledge that you may appear in event photography or video. If you have concerns about being photographed, please speak with the host when you arrive.

  • I still have a question. Who can I contact?

Use the Contact host option on this event page and we’ll be happy to help before the event.
