Swell 2026 | Cycle Wisdom: From Periods to Menopause
Description
Cycle Wisdom: From Periods to Menopause
Myths & Mysteries
A welcoming workshop for women of all ages, from periods to post-menopause. This 1.5 hour workshop is an interactive exploration of menstruation, menopause and the changing seasons of life.
~
Our bodies and lives move in cycles: menstrual cycles, moon cycles, hormonal transitions, seasons of growth and rest, and the longer arc from menarche (first period) to menopause and beyond.
This 1.5 hour participatory workshop offers a fresh, non-medical introduction to menstrual and menopausal awareness. Through a lively myths-and-mysteries quiz, an overview of the cycle and its inner seasons, simple practices designed to access your inner resources, and small-group conversation, participants will explore their own place within the changing rhythms of life.
We will also touch on the wider ecological and intergenerational picture: seasonal change, composting and renewal, the value of post-menopausal wisdom, and the importance of communities where women’s experiences are listened to and taken seriously.
This is not a workshop offering medical diagnosis, treatment, hormonal advice or instructions on how to “fix” the body. It is a space for curiosity, recognition, practical self-support and shared understanding.
Leave with a simple map for understanding the changing seasons of your body and life; a few practical ways to support yourself; fresh language for what you are experiencing; and a renewed sense that you do not have to navigate these transitions alone.
Menstruating, perimenopausal, menopausal, post-menopausal, pregnant and non-cycling women are welcome. No prior knowledge is needed.

See specific FAQs below.
Still have questions about suitability of this workshop for you?Email Denise: info@denisebarnettsomatics.com
- Does this workshop offer advice on hormones and medical problems?
This workshop is educational and reflective. It does not provide medical diagnosis, treatment, individual health advice or a substitute for appropriate healthcare. Participants are encouraged to consult a qualified healthcare professional about concerning, severe, new or changing symptoms.
- I'm already in menopause or post menopause (I no longer have periods). Is this suitable for me?
Yes! And in fact, it is really wonderful to have women who are no longer cycling as part of our group.
Most of us were not given this information when we were younger - and whether we still have a menstrual cycle or not, for whatever reasons including medical menopause, we are cyclical beings living in a seasonal cyclical world.
We will also include moon cycles and ways that women who are no longer bleeding/cycling can connect with these rhythms in their daily life.
- Can I bring my teenage daughter along with me?
Yes, absolutely! If your daughter is already menstruating and has been for a while, then this could be a great conversation for her to be part of.
Note: If your daughter is not already menstruating, or has just very recently started her bleeds, then this workshop would not be a good fit for her current stage.
You can express interest in a workshop for girls preparing for menarche (start of menstrual cycles), or for girls who have just recently started menstruating here
- I'm on hormonal contraception e.g. the pill. Will this be useful for me?
Yes! We will address the difference between the monthly process when on hormonal contraception, versus the natural menstrual cycle. Many women find this information useful, and have not been given it before.
- Will you address fertility issues?
This workshop will discuss the menstrual cycle in broad terms, and fertility and sexuality is part of that, and many different experiences are welcomed in our workshop circle. However if you are explicitly seeking advice on fertility issues, this is not the primary focus of this workshop.
- I'm pregnant. Can I still come?
Yes! Absolutely, please do join us if you feel the impulse to come.
