In Rehearsal: People Inside me by Katie Pollock

In collaboration with the TaPS department, SUDS Has been invited to watch a rehearsal of Katie Pollocks' new work People Inside Me playing at Flight Path Theatre from August 5th-15th. We are very privileged to get a sneak peak behind the scenes so soon before the show goes on. Come join us for this special opportunity! Limited spots available!

About the show:

Lauren works at a crematorium. She’s not too keen on death, but at least the dead can’t let you down. She has a history of dud relationships and lost pregnancies. But her biological clock is ticking and despite the risk of getting burned she finds herself at the bar night after night looking for someone to fuck.

Back at work Lauren discovers boxes of ashes left sitting on the shelf – children and babies who have not been claimed by their families. The memories and unlived lives of those departed souls start to invade her consciousness until something has to be done. She decides to return the ashes to their families, forcing her to confront her greatest fears. 

People Inside Me is an outrageously black comic look at grief and sex and the ways we push the darkness away.

About the creative:

Katie Pollock is an award-winning writer for stage, radio and screen. Recent works include: Human Activity (KXT), which was shortlisted for the Silver Gull, and longlisted for Theatre 503’s International Award; her solo show Rough Trade, which she performed in Sydney (Seymour Centre) and Melbourne (Theatreworks) and was nominated for three Fringe Awards; and Normal (Old 505), which won the Inscription/Edward Albee Playwriting Scholarship and has been produced across Australia. Katie’s play People Inside Me won the Rodney Seaborn Playwrights Award, was shortlisted for the Silver Gull and longlisted for the Theatre 503 Award, while Summerland won the inaugural Martin Lysicrates Prize. She has also been nominated for three AWGIEs.
