Restoration Planting at Swift Camp Creek

Date: Friday, November 13 (10:00 - 3:00)

Location: Meet at Pine Creek Information Center near Cougar, WA

Description: In 2025, the Forest Service placed large woody debris in Swift Camp Creek and this year we installed beaver dam analogs and post-assisted log structures to create more spawning and rearing habitat for salmon. Now we need to add plants to the banks to add nutrients to the stream and provide shade which will cool water temperatures.

We will use loppers and pruners to harvest live stakes from nearby areas and install them along Swift Camp Creek.

Work Conditions: We will use planting bags and shovels to carry and install native tree live stakes. Please be prepared for lifting and carrying up to 25 pounds, repetitive arm and shoulder motions, and walking across uneven terrain and along unstable stream banks.

Gear: Please bring appropriate layers for the weather, a daypack to carry your gear in the field, and enough food and water for the day. You will receive a complete gear list in your registration confirmation.

CFC will provide all the planting equipment including planting bags, shovels, and gloves.

Transportation and Vehicle Access: Please contact us at trips@cascadeforest.org if transportation is a barrier to participation. We can arrange carpools if necessary. Pine Creek Information Center is located on a paved highway.
