  5. Thursday 22 October 1.00-3.30 Punk Poetry Workshop Gareth Morgan TD305 This workshop offers an alternative entry point into poetry via punk. Rather than comparing thee to a summer’s day, we will blow away any imagined cobwebs on poetic form in order to find punk energy in language as an everyday material. Originally, punk was made by musicians who didn’t know how to play their instruments; thus punk makes poetry, which may be intimidating to some, an immediately accessible medium: you are already a poet. The best poems are punk, tho often these are hidden from view in favour of more ‘edifying’, ‘deep’, or ‘beautiful’ poems of high school and university curriculum. We will read, listen to and chat about some punk poems and songs, before writing our own punk poems with assistance and methods provided by Gareth. ticket
