Swing Rock Classes
Event description
Swing Rock is a style of dance in between Rock N Roll and Swing... with the rockin' spins, turns and throws of Rock N Roll, and the creative dance conversation and freedom of Swing!
These classes are for dancers who are new to dancing or at a beginner level, as well as those who know their basics and want to level them up!
Our focus will be on learning the basic steps, how to move them, how to lead and follow, and the techniques we use to make even our basics feel amazing! Even intermediate and advanced dancers benefit from recapping basic technique and style of movement to incorporate into their dancing!
Everyone is welcome to attend :-)
We support degendering in dance, so you can dance whichever role you choose: Lead or Follow. Knowing both roles makes you a better dancer!
THESE CLASSES WILL TAKE PLACE EVERY WEDNESDAY AT WESTGATE BAPTIST COMMUNITY HALL IN YARRAVILLE.
As classes gain momentum we have the opportunity to extend our Social Dance time.

LEVEL 1 @ 7PM:
Perfect for new dancers, or dancers wishing to cement their basics and techniques. We will be going over Basic (+Turning Basic), Underarm Turn + Left Return, Cuddle, American Spin.
LEVEL 2 @ 8PM:
Dancers need to comfortably lead and/or follow the Steps and Techniques from Level 1. We take our dancing up a notch and learn how to start moving our groove in our own unique way, and find our own individual flavour. Steps are variations and extensions of basics, and get us exploring dance possibilities and conversations. If you're unsure about your level, then have a quick dance assessment with Jei before class.
