Event description

Swing Shift Big Band

The Bay Music Club is proud to present the biggest band yet to grace our stage. This 20 piece band is literally a blast from the past and will be one of the highlights of our 2025 music program.

Swing Shift Big Band is excited to present its guilty-pleasures show 'The Postmodern Mixtap'e at The Bay Music Club.  It will be an unforgettable show that combines the hits of the 80s rewritten in classic big band style with actual classics from the Big Band Era. Sultry singers like Madonna and Ella Fitzgerald up against crooners like Frank Sinatra and Rick Astley!

This unforgettable show features the vocal stylings of the inimitable Jamie “Slim Jim” Mercanti, the outstanding Owen Measday and the effervescent Jo Bacon. Backing them are 17 hot musicians, cranking out the brassy goodness of Marty Pervan’s hip and quirky jazz arrangements of all of your favourite pub-rock tunes with a spicy twist.

About The Band:

Swing Shift Big Band was formed in 2003 under the direction of internationally acclaimed composer and trumpet player, Marty Pervan. The band has since become known for its hip, swinging performances of both classic Big Band Era music and their bespoke repertoire of classic rock tunes that have been given the “Swing Shift” treatment.
