Join us for a high-energy, hands-on event that unlocks your creativity, sharpens your problem-solving skills, and connects you with the people, tools and opportunities for innovation at Swinburne.

Swinnovation is a 60-minute, action-packed race across our Hawthorn campus. You’ll work in teams to take on build tasks, creative photo missions, and brain-bending puzzles - all designed to spark fresh ideas and unleash your inner innovator.

You’ll walk away from the Swinnovation: Amazing Race challenge with fresh ideas, new connections, and real-world skills to boost your uni success, career prospects, and personal growth.

This race is open to all Swinburne students, and we strongly encourage participation from every discipline, across both VET and Higher Education programs. The more diverse the teams, the stronger the ideas, the better the innovation.

Whether you’re a thinker, a maker, a doer, or just curious, this is your chance to connect, create, and compete.

How to join the Swinnovation challenge

1️⃣ Register solo or with friends (teams will be formed on the day)

2️⃣ Please arrive at the registration desk in the Atrium at 10:00 am to receive event details and collect your color-coded team band and team name.

3️⃣ Race through three themed stages:

  • Build Stage – Prototype with simple materials to showcase your creativity

  • Snap Stage – Complete creative photo challenges and capture your team’s best moments

  • Puzzle Stage – Solve riddles and challenges that put your problem-solving skills to the test.

4️⃣ Earn points, beat the clock, and climb the podium rankings!

Prizes

  • 1st Place – $60 Visa Gift Card (per person), exclusive Innovation Workshop, a set of professional headshots, and tickets to attend the 2025 Swinburne Venture Cup

  • 2nd Place – $40 Visa Gift Card (per person), tickets to attend the 2025 Swinburne Venture Cup

  • 3rd Place – $20 Bagel Voucher (per person), tickets to attend the 2025 Swinburne Venture Cup

  • 10am: Welcome, Snacks & Team Registrations

  • 10.45am: Amazing Race Briefing

  • 11am-12pm: Amazing Race Activity

  • 12.15pm-1pm: Winners Announced & Community Lunch
