Sydney Bee Club Apiary Field Day November and December 2024
Event description
We will examine the Langstroth hive and the Warré hive. You will be able to take part in a brood inspection, look for signs of disease, how to deal with these and revise general good beekeeping practices. Also learn the importance of an alcohol wash and how to perform one.
You can use your own clean freshly laundered protective gear. Or you can hire protective gear for $10Â from the club. Please wear gloves (these can be rubber gloves) long trousers, long sleeved top with a high collar, closed in shoes with socks underneath your bee suit. You may wear your own beekeeping gear but it should be clean. You may bring your own gloves but please ensure they are spotlessly clean, no residue from other hives. This avoids the risk of cross infection.
There will be opportunities to ask questions, exchange ideas, share your experiences, and meet other bee friendly people.
The event will go ahead weather permitting.
