Join author Kirsty Nancarrow to celebrate the launch of her book about the extraordinary life of Som Tamang.

Som was a child slave in Nepal who overcame great adversity to invest in the next generation in his village, Batase, through Friends of Himalayan Children.

He is a pioneer of the Himalayan trekking industry, creating opportunities for women guides through Take on Nepal.

Kirsty is an award-winning journalist and business owner who had a 15-year career with the ABC. She was compelled to write Som's life story after volunteering as a teacher for a month in Batase School, overcoming her own mental health challenges along the way.
