Join us for an engaging educational program designed for all nurses who care for melanoma patients. 

Hosted by Melanoma Institute Australia, our one-day symposium will give you practical insights based on the latest research in melanoma diagnosis and treatment from multidisciplinary experts in the field.

The Sydney 2022 Nurse Melanoma Symposium
 program covers the whole spectrum of the disease. Registrants can choose to attend either the surgical or medical concurrent stream during our afternoon session. 

MORNING PROGRAM

  • An overview of melanoma (A/Prof Alexander van Akkooi - Surgical Oncologist)
  • Initial assessment and diagnosis of melanoma (Dr Bruna Gouveia - Dermatologist)
  • Understanding the pathology report (Dr Robert Rawson - Pathologist)
  • How has melanoma surgery changed in the last decade? (A/Prof Sydney Ch'ng - Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeon)
  • Surgery for melanoma brain metastases: Where are we now? (A/Prof Brindha Shivalingam - Neurosurgeon)
  • The shifting paradigm in medical management of melanoma (Dr Piyush Grover - Medical Oncology Fellow)
  • What I have learnt from patients in the rural setting: Challenges from the field (Danielle Goss - CNS)
  • Psychological considerations in melanoma and responding to distress (Dr Skye Dong - Clinical Psychologist)

AFTERNOON PROGRAM - SURGICAL STREAM

  • Melanoma surgery and post-operative care (Dr Thomas Pennington - Surgical Oncologist)
  • Post-op complications: A series of case studies (Marcella Yudo - RN)
  • Lymphoedema diagnosis and management (Carol Morris - Physiotherapist)

AFTERNOON PROGRAM - MEDICAL STREAM

  • Advances in medical oncology management (A/Prof Matteo Carlino - Medical Oncologist)
    • Systemic therapy side effects: How do nurses manage? (Rebecca Biviano and Nicole Taylor - CNCs) 
    • Clinical trials in melanoma (Maria Gonzalez - Clinical Trials Manager)

    Refreshments will be provided.


    Cost: $85 (inc GST)

    CPD: A Certificate of Attendance will be given after completing a survey on the event. 

    RSVP: By 13 July 2022. Note that ticket numbers are strictly limited and as this is a popular event, tickets are likely to be sold out by then.
