Join us for two jam-packed afternoons of Professional Development with one of Australia's leading string educators, Loreta Fin AM.

Start your teaching year with some fresh ideas and strategies!

Wednesday 15 January 2024 - Tips and Tricks for taking String Orchestras and running Beginner String Programs.

Thursday 16 January 2024 - Hands on ensemble session (bring your orchestral string instrument!) working with Loreta on six of her works and delving into how she uses them to refine rhythm, pulse, intonation, expression/dynamics, bowing styles and more.

Meet Loreta Fin AM 

Loreta Fin AM is a renowned Australian composer and educator and SYO alumni, recognised for her extensive contributions to the music and string communities. With over 30 years of experience, she has conducted internationally, led ensembles, and taught at prestigious institutions like Sydney Grammar and Somerville House. Loreta’s ensembles have consistently won top awards, including the Orchestras Australia Award for Excellence. She has served as the National President of AUSTA, frequently conducts and adjudicates at major festivals, and is a prolific author of string works. Her achievements culminated in being appointed a Member of the Order of Australia in 2024 for her significant contributions to music education.
