Systems Change 101 - Empowering Effective Actions for Social Change
Event description
Course Overview
Systems Change 101 is a social change empowerment course that will develop your capacity for positive change-making. Whether you are in the service provision sector, in social enterprise, advocacy, activism or grassroots community change, this programme will deepen your understanding of social change concepts and key mechanisms to enable you to maximise the impact of your efforts.
We will be applying a systems-thinking framework to issues of socio-economic and environmental justice, with a solution-focused approach, so we can implement our learnings into real-world actions. In completing this course you will feel better equipped to tackle some of the challenges we face in our local and global society, with confidence, clarity and determination.
Topics Covered Include:
- Systems-Thinking Tools
- Communication for Social Change
- Economic Justice
- Ecological Design
- Ecopsychology
- Governance and Democracy
- Gender Equality
- Climate Change Communication
- Activism and Advocacy
- Education for Change
- Community-Building and Peace-Building.
Addressing the root and underlying issues of society is a much more effective and sustainable approach than constantly seeing to the symptoms of an ill society.
This course will give you the holistic and integrated understandings you need to design more impactful projects, to have more beneficial conversations, to see solutions instead of getting caught on problems, and empower you and your community or organisation to make better decisions for social, economic and environmental justice.
