SYTA AGM Presentation: Bringing The Heart Back Into Yoga with Swami Yogakanti Saraswati
Description
Bringing The Heart Back Into Yoga with Swami Yogakanti Saraswati
Swami Yogakanti Saraswati has been learning yoga in our tradition for the past 45 years, including years of ashram life. During the last three years she has travelled constantly in Australia, India, and more recently New Zealand, teaching and connecting with our sangha face to face. After observing that experienced practitioners are hungry for sangha, and that young people need to see yoga's relevance to their priorities, she will be talking about the need for yoga teaching in Australia to return to the sadhanas of the heart,
The focus will be on Swami Satyananda's original message: Yoga is the way to uplift the consciousness of mankind. According to Bihar School of Yoga's message for the 2026 International Day of Yoga, these days that means living kindness. Maintaining inner happiness, practising mantra japa and remembrance of who we truly are, constitute the first steps of Swami Niranjanananda's lifestyle yamas and niyamas, guidelines for life. Expressing these in life becomes the dynamic sadhana of maintaining contentment and kindness.
Please bring to share, if you are happy to do so, examples of any involvement you have in this area of opening our hearts and including others in our family. This could be through your yoga classes or in other ways, for example, through voluntary work that you or your students may be involved in.
