t.Labs x3 | Nature Positive Business, Life Centred Design and Biomimicry
Event description
t.Lab #1 – Regenerative Business
Fri 16th Aug 9.30am-12.30pm, NZST
A design lab intensive on the deep principles of Nature and the Nature Positive Level Up.
This is NOT about Nature-positive reporting or restorative projects. This IS about learning the deep patterns and principles of living systems, that you can leverage in business to unlock untapped strategic value potential. Often hidden in plain sight. This is the foundation for disruptive design. It shapes where and how you play.
Melissa will guide you through the lab with bleeding edge case studies, as well as her own learned lessons from playing 15 years on the regenerative bright side.
WHO FOR
Strategists. Entrepreneurs and start up teams. Regenerative disruptors and systems-wide impact players. (for profit, not-for-profit, social impact).
DELIVERING TO YOU
- 10 deep overarching principles of regenerative, Nature-played business
- Guidance on the tools + models to use, and the tools + models to avoid
- A strategic pathway forward for disruption
ENABLING YOU TO
- Better identify you / your industry’s regenerative disruptive potential
- Ask better strategic questions to make stronger, future-fit decisions
- Realign your business (or future business) to be future-fit
t.Lab #2 – Life Centred Design
Fri 23rd Aug 9.30am-12.30pm, NZST
A design lab intensive on how Nature does design thinking and the Nature Positive Upskill.
We dive deep to unpack value thinking that’s hard coded into design thinking. How to better sense, seize and scale value. And then we apply a bio-lens.
This is a foundational sprint that plays in the intersectional of systems, ecology, ethics and biomimicry.
Why these? These are the cross-cutting skills to give you the lens and language to play a Nature positive design game. This helps you to better see strategic potential and unlock this potential with innovation.
Melissa will guide you through the lab with bleeding edge case studies, as well as her own learned lessons from playing 15 years on the regenerative bright side.
WHO FOR
Design thinkers. Regenerative change agents, disruptors and innovators. Management, sustainability and design consultants. Board + exec strategy leads.
DELIVERING TO YOU
- A 4 x 4 value-led thinking framework for diagnostic, discovery, design + decision making.
- A bio-lens on dynamic capabilities (sense, seize, scale and transform)
- A foundational compass overview on systems, ecology, ethics, and biomimicry design
ENABLING YOU TO
- Better diagnose you / your industry’s regenerative disruptive potential
- Better design your strategy and innovations
- Ask better strategic questions to make stronger, future-fit decisions
t.Lab #3 – Biomimicry
Fri 30th Aug 9.30am-12.30pm, NZST
A design lab intensive on how Nature designs and the Nature Positive Potential.
Biomimicry is more than bioinspired design or nature positive restorative projects. It’s tapping into the high performance, high tech, open-source, R&D library that’s 3.8 billion years old. Nature. Where disruptive tech futures aren’t built from binary bits, but biological atoms. It’s hope in a bowl for breakfast.
We explore the adaptive strategies of Nature’s organisms, and the deep patterns of disruption design Nature has evolved. We explore how these patterns can be applied as design principles to help solve our human challenges.
Melissa will guide you through the lab with bleeding edge Biomimicry case studies, across different sectors.
WHO FOR
Regenerative strategists, disruptors and innovators. Management, sustainability and design consultants. Board + exec strategy leads.
DELIVERING TO YOU
- A foundational overview on biomimicry design
- A curated set of Life’s design principles
- The biology-human design thinking bridge
- Biomimicry case studies, across sector
ENABLING YOU TO
- Unlock bio-potential
- Design way better innovations
- Disrupt your world
ABOUT MELISSA
Melissa is a regenerative transformation specialist, globally recognized system-design strategist, and biomimicry practitioner. 25 years re/designing strategy, innovation and business models from global blue chips to NPOs and start ups. 15 years on the regenerative side. 10 years training exec teams and entrepreneurs on disruption, for good. Melissa deep dived into research during lockdowns, curating 100 years of regenerative principles and divergent models, levelled up with a U.S. Masters in Biomimicry, undertook client testing and synthesized it all into the t.METHOD. Now she’s going public. To give regenerators the tools to disrupt their world. For more on Melissa and the t.METHOD see tensegrity.bio
