T. Lopea & the International Men of Mystique
Event description
As part of a special treat to Wagga T. Lopea are coming to The Curious Rabbit for an intimate show as part of their album launch tour. With local support act Gone Fishin!
In a bid to recall his past life, T. Lopea releases his debut alt-rock EP International Man of Mystique (IMOM). Like its creator, IMOM is a cool, quirky tour de force with a dash of sparkle on top. Not Me - the heart-racing second single from IMOM, demonstrates a palpable New-York Punk influence, with the ceaseless backbeat sure to keep feet tapping . Through soaring guitar chugs, dynamic drum breaks, and lightning quick vocal passages, we are reminded of the all too common feeling of having our personal boundaries crossed, and why others will now realise that they were mistaken to do so.
“Not one that fails to make them see or one to let what’s wrong just be - I can’t pretend any longer… that’s not me”
Not Me takes careful and constructed instrumental influence from garage-rock mavericks like The Strokes and Arctic Monkeys, while injecting a healthy dose of singer-songwriter spirit into the lyrical and vocal performance. Mixed at A# Studios & Kiln Studios in Sydney (known for producing Lime Cordiale, Birds of Tokyo, and Kwame, among others), and mastered by Mike Marsh in London (Oasis, Calvin Harris, Dua Lipa…), the bar has most definitely been raised for Sydney local T. Lopea, keeping the beloved rough edges in his music, yet still bringing his most polished and professional sound yet.
