    Tackling Tough Times Together Program

    A report on program outcomes, impacts & insights.

    FRRR is pleased to release an Insights Report for the long-running FRRR Tackling Tough Times Together (TTTT) grant program, which documents the outcomes and impacts from 681 projects, plus shares our recommendations for what effective in-drought support could look like in future.

    With all funded projects to date now finalised, the deep insights and learnings have been captured in an online report, and soon-to-be-released series of podcasts.

    So, if you…

    • would like to hear from communities that have flourished in the face of adversity;
    • want to learn more about effective community-led responses to drought, and their legacies;
    • are keen to understand the role of philanthropic and government support in drought affected communities; and/or
    • are wondering what impact your support of FRRR has had…

    Join us for this webinar, where FRRR will share learnings, insights and ideas for the future about how communities can be supported and sustained through times of climatic challenges, such as drought.

    It will be an important moment to celebrate the tenacity, momentum and achievements of the many, many initiatives by communities across Australia that were developed in response to drought throughout 2014 to 2022.

    About the program

    Established in 2014 in partnership with the Tim Fairfax Family Foundation, and later supported by many other donors including the Australian Government, the TTTT program was designed to support drought-affected communities. It had a specific focus on ensuring grassroots, community-led initiatives that directly benefitted communities across remote, rural and regional could access funds that would address their immediate and long-term needs.

    The program had specific aims of:

    • Reducing social isolation by facilitating strong social cohesion and connection;
    • Supporting and engaging the community in leadership development and skills training;
    • Supporting opportunities for social and educational participation and address disadvantage caused by the drought, for children and young people;
    • Reducing volunteer fatigue and build the capacity, capability, and sustainability of local not-for-profit organisations to provide support to their communities, particularly where they are playing an increased role during the drought; and
    • Supporting local economic recovery or renewal through projects that stimulate economic activity and cash-flow within communities.

    The webinar will be recorded and shared to all registrations following its conclusion.
