    Event description

Tadhg Kennelly (AFL Premiership Medal holder) enjoyed a top-level international sporting career including 9 years with the Sydney Swans as a player and coach. He was inducted into the AFL Hall of Fame in 2015. In recent years Tadhg has re-evaluated his life after football. He will explain why he is now devoting his energies to improving men’s wellbeing – mental, physical, and emotional – to be the best role model they can be for themselves and all those around them.

Together with friend David Eccles, Tadhg has been named as NSW Community Champion by NSW Mental Health Commissioner for their work running the successful mental health group WNOW (When No-one’s Watching) aimed at reducing the incidence of men’s suicide. What began as a weekly sunrise gathering of a few friends on a Sydney beach for a spot of exercise, connection and coffee has grown into a movement attracting hundreds, and now national and international interest. The aim, he says, is to reach 1 million men.

Find out more about WNOW and how Rotary can help with this novel, uplifting and life-changing peer support initiative.
