Description

Our TAFE AMEP education program provides students of English as an additional language or dialect with the opportunity to understand how Queensland Parliament works.

What's involved? 

This program will enable your students to: 

  • Learn about key parliamentary roles and terms such as democracy, parliament, unicameral, government, vote, motion, and bill.

  • Experience a parliamentary debate through a role play.

  • Discover the architectural features and history of Parliament House.

  • Dates and program are subject to change. 

  • There may be another class taking part in the program alongside you.

  • All supervising staff and students must pass through security screening to enter the parliamentary precinct. 

  • All adults must bring a Government Issued Photo ID (a precinct entry requirement). 

  • Some photography restrictions apply. 

  • Entry is via the Parliamentary Annexe in Alice Street. For more information about entering the parliamentary precinct, view this video

Free guided tours are offered each weekday at 1pm, 2pm and 3pm. This is a public tour only, with a duration of 30-45 minutes. No bookings are required. If you would like to join a public tour, please arrive at the Parliamentary Annexe 10 minutes early and limit student numbers to 10 per tour.
