Training for Respect: Free Training for Victorian RTOs and TAFEs

Enhance your organisation’s capacity to foster safe and respectful environments with Training for Respect, two face to face sessions on the same day, designed for supervisors and future leaders in TAFEs and Registered Training Organisations (RTOs) across Victoria. These interactive 2 workshops (held on the same day) build on online learning modules, equipping participants with practical tools and strategies to prevent workplace gender-based violence and promote lasting cultural change.

Morning Session: Building Safer RTOs – Foundations for Preventing Workplace Gendered Violence

Duration: hours - Starts at 9.30am

Gain foundational insights into the key drivers of workplace gendered violence and explore actionable strategies to create safer, more equitable environments. This session combines theory with engaging discussions and activities, encouraging participants to connect professional practices with practical change.

Afternoon Session: Taking Action – Implementing Systemic Change in Your RTO

Duration: 3 hours - starts at 1230pm/1pm ending around 3pm
Description:
Learn how to translate learning into meaningful, long-term action. This session empowers participants to design action plans that integrate systems, structures, and governance processes essential for preventing workplace gendered violence, positioning your organisation as a leader in cultural transformation.

Training for Respect seeks to improve the capacity, capability, and confidence of Victoria's adult education sector to prevent and respond to work-related gender-violence. The project aims to establish a sustainable sector-wide primary prevention infrastructure for Victorian Registered Training Organisations (RTOs). Training for Respect is proudly supported by WorkSafe Victoria’s WorkWell Respect Fund.

Working in collaboration with the sector and centring lived experience, this project will build on evidence and leading practice ways of working and:

Project Deliverables

Governance and Advice Infrastructure: Establishing a governance and advice infrastructure for the industry to oversee and drive work to prevent workplace gendered violence.
Needs Analysis Report: Producing a needs analysis report and evidence describing the prevalence and experience of workplace gendered violence within the sector.
Sector-Specific Capability Building Program: A three-part program to build capability, including:
- Online Modules: Establishing foundational knowledge of the Act, obligations, risks, hazards, and steps to prevent workplace gendered violence.
- In-Person Program for RTO Workplaces: Embedding and deepening knowledge to foster accountability and behavior change.
- In-Person Program for Leaders and Managers: Equipping leaders and managers with the skills to identify, mitigate, and eliminate workplace gendered violence.
Industry-Wide Campaign: Producing a campaign to promote agreed messages, highlighting the value and impact of eliminating workplace gendered violence on the industry, employees, and students.
Online Resource Hub: Building an online resource hub, including a referral pathway for the sector, quality information, and access to resources developed through the project.
Theory of Change and Monitoring Framework: Establishing a long-term theory of change and monitoring framework for the sector to sustain the work of preventing workplace gendered violence.
Evaluation Report: Producing an evaluation report on project outcomes, including recommendations for advancing the work under the sector's agreed Theory of Change.

Training for Respect is creating safer, more equitable workplaces across Victoria's adult education sector by promoting positive change and supporting leaders, managers, and educators in preventing and addressing workplace gender-based violence.

Training for Respect champions a cultural shift toward respect, safety, and inclusion.
