Event description
'Whau Pasifika Festival: Kotahitanga', Pacific General Assembly and Tuiloma Lina Samu present:
TAGATA O LE MOANA UNDERSTANDING TE TIRITI O WAITANGI
Sun 29 July, 3.00pm - 5.30pm
ONLINE
The Pacific General (PGA) Assembly is empowering Moana Pacific community leaders with the knowledge and skills to champion Te Tiriti o Waitangi within their own communities.
This session is the next iteration of workshops previously crafted for those across Moana-nui-a-Kiwa, with interactive online workshops exploring the historical context, core principles, and modern-day significance of Te Tiriti and ancestral connections between Māori and Pacific Peoples.
Developed by Tuiloma Lina Samu—former Pacific Human Rights Advisor at Te Kāhui Tika Tangata | The New Zealand Human Rights Commission and now Director, Pacific Identities & Advisory team, Policy & Insights at the Ministry for Pacific Peoples—this programme is delivered through PGA initiatives. It provides targeted support for those with genealogical ties to Moana-nui-a-Kiwa, whether through bloodlines or through service to the region and its peoples.
Join a network of community presenters, and gain access to ongoing updates and resources. This is an opportunity to advance shared understanding, strengthen bonds between Tagata Moana and Tangata Whenua, and honour Te Tiriti o Waitangi in Aotearoa.
