Takatu Landcare Spring Celebration- Protecting Nature * Building Community * Taking Action
Event description
Why We’re Hosting This Event
Takatu LandCare (TLC) is on a mission to grow our membership of conservation-minded people and expand our efforts to protect and restore the unique ecology of Tawharanui Peninsula and its environs.
This spring, we invite you to a special celebration in recognition of the wonderful support of our members and to bring our extended community together in a relaxed, social setting with like-minded people. To kick start our event, our guest speaker, Christian Bay resident Frances Valintine, will bring Aotearoa’s rapidly changing demographics to life through a look into the future, where the redistribution of population across five generations, the declining birth rate, and the re-imagined composition of our economy will change our place in the world.
Her conversation will showcase the data, insights and expectations of Aotearoa from now until 2040, to help us all develop the knowledge and understanding of the future to make better informed decisions. Her work focuses on supporting the development of understanding and knowledge for professionals in the areas of sustainability, leadership, technology, and education.

Why supporting TLC conservation work matters
More birds. Healthier eco habitats. Greater resilience in our community.
Our growing population and development pressures make protecting remaining natural areas more important than ever. By being a member, you will support TLC:
Strengthen the biodiversity and habitat corridors on Tawharanui Penninsula,
Help native birds flourish outside the Open Sanctuary predator fence,
Create local pride and connection through action.
Plus, your support helps us reach our goal of 150 subscribed members by 2026 — building a stronger base for long-term sustainable conservation in our region.
