Take a Chance: 2024 People, Place and Planet Conference

Event description

The Town Team Movement Placemaking Conference is back!

The 2024 People, Places and Planet Conference theme is Take a Chance and the event will focus on creating successful places with the community.

Event details:

Friday 13 September, 9.15am to 4.45pm followed by sundowner

Northam Town Centre, Northam WA 6401

The Town Team Movement Placemaking Conference has been organised since 2018 and received incredible on-going support and feedback. Each conference has succeeded in bringing together a wide variety of delegates to feel inspired and motivated to create even better places.

The Town Team conference is more than just a talk fest. It’s about living and embodying the Town Team and placemaking principles through immersive experience. It’s about learning through doing and inviting and inspiring community members and professionals to take action. It’s about being and doing place rather than simply talking about place.

In previous years we explored the concept of collaboration, acting locally and how Town Teams, communities and governments at all levels can play an expanding role in facilitating more connected and resilient communities through positive action.

We aim to continue our conversation and meaningful action in 2024 exploring the theme of Take a Chance! This year, we bring the conference to the Wheatbelt region to showcase the positive benefits of placemaking in Northam and the broader region.

The event will be packed with hands-on activities, networking and ideas exchange opportunities, amazing presentations and of course a famous after party!

Some of the 2024 event objectives include building capability and capacity of local governments and communities to create more vibrant and community friendly neighbourhoods, increasing knowledge and understanding of placemaking across WA, including a place-led mindset and support for local action, exploring regenerative buildings, urban greenery, innovation, best practice and sustainability in the built environment, place leadership and management.

It is also an invitation to explore the beautiful Wheatbelt region, full of history, culture and surprises!
