Take control of erosion on your property - Michelago

Join South East Local Land Services for a hands-on workshop designed to help landholders identify, manage, and prevent small-scale erosion on their properties.  

Event details:

The workshop will focus on teaching practical, low-cost solutions that can be implemented by landholders using readily available materials, landscape knowledge, a little bit of ingenuity, and elbow grease. 

What will be covered:  

• understanding water movement in the landscape  

• identifying the causes of your erosion  

• maintaining groundcover as a priority 

• stabilising small rills and bare areas 

• using vegetation to protect vulnerable soils.

Small-scale erosion is easier and more affordable to address when detected early. By understanding how water moves through the landscape and implementing preventative measures, landholders can protect valuable topsoil, improve the environment and farm productivity and contribute to healthier waterways across the region.  

Additional details:

• This is a hands-on field day. To participate safely, you should wear sturdy boots, work gloves, eye protection, sun protection and water.

• Access to toilets is limited on this site.

• Lunch will be provided.
