Event description

We often talk about making bold offers in improv. This workshop explores how to accept them.

How do we live up to the promises we make our audiences? How do you accept offers you don't necessarily understand? What can you do to make a wild offer still feel grounded without wimping on it? Jed Davies teaches techniques to full-throatedly 'yes, and' the offers that scare you, and how to let them take your scene in bold new directions.

To Take part in this workshop you should have at least 1 year of improv experience, and be comfortable in performing scene-work.

This workshop is 1 of 2 end-of-year one-offs with PopRox. Check out our Unlocking Bolder Characters workshop with Austin Harrison. If you want to book for both workshops, then you can select a "double pass" ticket on this event and we'll add you to our list for the other workshop.

ABOUT THE TEACHER
Jed Davies has been improvising around Te Whanganui a Tara since 2012, with companies like PlayShop, PopRox, The Big Hoo Haa, Soap Factory and others. Known for bold support moves, satisfying story conclusions, and 'deliciously macabre delivery' (Regional News), his work focuses on genre, playfulness, and commitment.

THE STAND-BY LIST
PopRox
firmly believes that improv is for everyone, especially when it comes to sharing skills and knowledge. So we're offering "the stand-by list" for all our workshops in 2024. We'll giveaway any spots remaining a few days before the first workshop of the course, on a first-come-first-serve basis. No need to provide a reason, no questions asked. If the entry fee is a barrier for you to come along, then simply email poproximprov@gmail.com and we'll pop you on the SBL. Everyone on the list will be notified whether there was a place available for them 3 days before the workshop.
