Event description

Tales from the reef: 50 years on One Tree Island

We’re thrilled to invite you to an evening celebrating half a century of transformative marine research, conservation efforts and education from the University of Sydney’s One Tree Island Research Station – the ultimate natural laboratory.

One Tree Island is a coral cay, situated at the southeast end of its reef and lies at the heart of the Capricorn Group of the Great Barrier Reef and has been managed by the University of Sydney since 1974.

Come and learn about groundbreaking research on reef resilience, climate change, sustainability and more from some of the brightest minds in marine science. You’ll hear about our researchers’ adventures in the deep blue, amazing discoveries and cutting-edge work as well as the challenges involved in preserving the delicate ecosystems of one of the world’s most beautiful natural wonders.

At the end of the talk, there will be a Q&A followed by refreshments.

Don’t miss your chance to be part of this special celebration!
