Selkirk Stadium
wendouree, australia
Event description
Imagine being just 20 years old, newly married, and travelling to live in Moscow at the tail end of the cold war. The USSR was in a long slow decline and there were strict travel restrictions and terrible food shortages. Rita Holt accompanied her new husband Rick who had landed a job at the Australian Embassy, then known in the trade as a "hardship posting". Indeed, they soon discovered the living conditions were very challenging. Despite these hardships, they turned the experience into an adventure.
