Talking About IHRA: International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance
Event description
In 2019 Australia joined the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance (IHRA), an organisation committed to building an alliance of political and social leaders to support the need for Holocaust education, remembrance and research to ensure ‘Never Again’ is a reality.Â
The recent launch of the Parliamentary Friends of IHRA is an important step for the Australian community, but also for the future of holocaust education, combating antisemitism and hate mitigation.Â
Join Youth HEAR on Thursday the 16th of March at 6:00 PM for an engaging discussion with Dr Avril Alba, (Australian Delegate to IHRA), Andre Oboler (CEO of Online Hate Prevention Institute and Australian Delegate to IHRA) and and Allegra Spender MP, Co-Chair of Parliamentary Friends of IHRA and federal Member for Wentworth. The panel discussion will unpack the context of IHRA, its role and its importance in a society where expressions of antisemitism and hate are on the rise.Â
As young people, we have a responsibility to keep the voices and memories of the Holocaust alive and relevant to ensure such atrocities never happen again. IHRA offers us support on this missed and amplified our voice and advocacy.Â
As the IHRA puts it "A world that remembers the Holocaust is a world without genocide."
We look forward to sharing this engaging and empowering discussion and a light dinner with you on Thursday, 16 March, at 6:00 pm. Register here for your $10 ticket.Â
The eastern suburbs venue will be announced to those who have registered closer to the date of the event.
