General information

Entry instructions

The entrance to the Allan Scott Auditorium is via smooth concrete ramps around the campus. From North Terrace, there is a step-free path to the left of the stairs next to the Hawke Centre. From Hindley Street, there is a sloped path down towards the Hawke Centre, and a ramp to the left of the stairs as you approach. EXTERNAL DOORS The entrance to the building itself is via wide, automatic glass doors. As you enter, there are bathrooms to your left, and a concrete ramp ahead of you to enter the Auditorium. Everyone uses the same entrance. The flooring here is concrete. INTERNAL DOORS There are two sets of large double swing doors to enter the Auditorium. These will be open, and Papercuts volunteers will be around to assist as needed. The flooring here is carpet.

After entry instructions

LAYOUT The Auditorium is a large lecture theatre, with projected screens at the front (‘the stage’) and rows of tiered seating for the audience. SEATING Most of the seating is accessed via steps between rows of seats. The front row is on the ground level; this is reserved for people with mobility aids or anyone who needs a step-free seat, and their companions. Some of the spots in the front row have no seat, only room for a wheelchair. Some have seats installed, but the seats can be stowed away.

Toilet location

There are three bathrooms available from the foyer: men’s, women’s, and accessible. The men’s and women’s are accessed via large, heavy swing doors. The men’s has three stalls, including an ambulant stall with left-hand handrail, and three separated urinals. There are sinks with clearance space underneath and a hand dryer. The women’s has five stalls, including an ambulant stall with right-hand handrail. There are sanitary bins in the stalls. The hand dryer is button-operated, and there is a sharps bin. There are sinks with clearance space underneath. The accessible toilet is accessed via a door that pushes open, but swivels on an angle 1/3 rd of the way into the door, then pushes to the side. The toilet has a left-hand handrail. There is a sink with clearance underneath and a low hand dryer. There is also a small shower here with a bench and handrail.
