Event description

‘Talking Teachers Goes Live on education in schools, the community and universities' and we discuss the big issues in schools, curriculum, teaching children and young people, including pre-service and in-service teachers in Australia in 2024.

We will also share responses to these questions:

  • Ever wondered how a podcast is made?
  • What are some tips to have front of mind?
  • Is an education podcast different to other genres?
  • Do you really need to edit what you record?
  • How do you attract expert talent who want to talk?

These questions and more will be addressed by Associate Professors Jane Hunter and Don Carter as they go live on stage at UTS Building 2 with Amy Gill, Deputy Principal of Impact and Innovation at ‘Youth off the Streets’ and ‘Talking Teachers’ producer William Verity from Verity Media

About Talking Teachers podcast:

There is a critical shortage of teachers in Australia. This Talking Teachers podcast series which focuses on teachers and schools aims to highlight voices that are not often heard in current education debates.

To date the 12 episodes in Season One and Two have been downloaded more than 2500 times including the latest episode featuring Federal Education Minister Jason Clare.

We need more empirically informed conversations about schools, results and teaching and learning in classrooms as the field has narrowed to where 'opinion makers' and 'conservative think tanks' are the 'go to sources' for the Australian media, politicians and education policy.

This event is part of the UTS FASStival 2024 program.
