Passive Solar Design at Catalina

Join us for a walk-through and talk at Catalina Sustainable Home. Griff will discuss the basics of passive solar design and how it works in the home. After the talk, you will be able to walk through the home, look at the features discussed, and ask questions.

The talk will include;

• What exactly is north facing? Don't all blocks face north?

• What is the difference between Passive Solar Design & Passiv Haus?

• De-mystifying energy star ratings, NatHERS, net zero and carbon positive

• Thermal mass, what is it and how is it used?

• Insulation, when and where do I need to install it.

• Naturally cooling your home - Breeze paths/airflow.

• Construction materials and how they affect your home's performance.

• 10am - 12pm Saturday 6th September (registration opens at 9:30am)

• 10am - 12pm Sunday 14th September (registration opens at 9:30am)

• 10am - 12pm Sunday 21st September (registration opens at 9:30am)

• 12pm - 2pm Thursday 25th September (registration opens at 11:30am)

Door Prize, one subscription to either Sanctuary or Renew magazine will be given away at each talk. Members from the Renew Perth Branch will be at the talks with Sanctuary and Renew magazines for sale at discounted prices.

Booking tickets

• Tickets are sold through Humanitix.

• Tickets are $10 per person or $15 for two tickets, including GST plus booking fee.

• Instant confirmation from order@humanitix.com if you do not receive your confirmation within minutes please check your email junk folder. If you still can't find them, let us know via events@solardwellings.com.au we will send them to you. (Our office hours are 9am-5pm Monday to Friday)

• Do not print tickets, we would like to reduce waste and keep our carbon footprint low.

• All profits go to Renew Australia Inc. A national, not-for-profit organisation that inspires, enables and advocates for people to live sustainably in their homes and communities. Established in 1980, Renew provides expert, independent advice on sustainable solutions for the home to households, government and industry.

• Book early as space is limited.

At the event

• Please arrive early to register (we will be there 30 minutes before). This keeps the tour moving smoothly and allows everyone plenty of time to look around and ask questions before the talk.

• We will send you an email closer to the date with more information.
