Argentinean-Australian pianist Marcela Fiorillo won the admiration and hearts of audiences around the world through her impressive, passionate yet thoughtful and sensitive performances. In Australia, critics described Marcela as having “a consummate pianism of breathtaking technical assurance and deep expressive power” following concerts at the International Music, Canberra International Multicultural, ANU Ibero-American and Castlemaine Festivals, as well as performances for the ABC Sunday Live Radio Program, Kawai Concert Series and Australasian Piano Pedagogy and Western Australia Piano Pedagogy Conferences. She will present a passionate program celebrating Astor Piazzolla's music.
Astor Piazzolla brought new life and speech to Tango music. His New Tango – revolutionary and passionate - recreated this genre for future generations and opened windows for it, all over the world.
Piazzolla is both the product of a tradition and the rupture from that tradition.
Although retaining the tango’s essential spirit, his compositions combine elements blending Tango with Western academic music influences and jazz, resulting in a new individual style that gave birth to his controversial and revolutionary New Tango.
His music is the Music of Buenos Aires. His music IS Buenos Aires.
