Tapa x Tatreez Workshop
Event description
Join Saniah Naim and Jasmine Tuia in a cross-cultural exchange of Tatreez and Tapa. In this creative gathering, you'll have the opportunity to embroider traditional Palestinian motifs such as whetū (stars) onto tapa, the iconic barkcloth of Moananui. Together, through shared stories, stitching, and creativity we will explore these textile traditions and the deep cultural threads that connect us across oceans and generations. No experience needed, you’ll create your own piece to take home. We can’t wait to see you there!
NB: Tautai is located on Level 1 via 2 flights of stairs, as there is no lift. Please let us know if you require any assistance by emailing operations@tautai.org
Attendance requirements:
As this is a free workshop with limited registrations, please bring a plate of kai to share with the collective - no pork please and thank you!
We recommend planning your travel and parking in advance to help ensure you arrive on time.
Anything you'd like us to know before the workshop (e.g. dietary needs, cultural considerations, prior experience)? Please email operations@tautai.org
