Wilderness Hike Tour: Taronga Zoo to Balmoral Beach
Date: Sunday 19th January 2025
Time: 7:00 am - 3:00 pm
Meet up Location: Circular Quay Station (7:00 am - 7:30 am)
Join us for a scenic 6km hike from Taronga Zoo to Balmoral Beach, where you will explore the Australian bush, learn about local flora and fauna, and gain practical navigation skills. This hike is perfect for nature lovers looking to connect with the outdoors and develop valuable skills!
Hike Details:
- Meet at: Circular Quay Station at 8:00 am. Leaving at 8:30 AM SHARP
- Start the hike together at Taronga Zoo Wharf to begin the hike at 8:45 am
- Distance & Duration: Approx. 6km one-way, taking around 1.5 hours (may extend due to wilderness talks).
- Finish: We aim to finish by 10:30 - 11:00 am, depending on the group's fitness levels.
- Return: Catch the public bus from Balmoral Beach at 2:30 - 3:00 pm (tentative) for the return journey to Circular Quay Station

What to Bring:
- Comfortable hiking shoes (preferably with good grip)
- Weather-appropriate clothing (check the forecast)
- Water bottle (at least 1.5L recommended)

- Camera (optional, for photos of the stunning views!)
- A small backpack for your belongings
Important Notes:
- The hike is approximately 6km one-way and will take about 1.5 hours, depending on the group's pace.
- Ensure you're dressed comfortably for the hike and weather conditions.
- The event will go ahead rain or shine, but please be prepared for possible weather changes.
Eligibility Criteria:
- Been in Australia for less than 5 years.
- Migrant and/or refugee visa holder, aged 16-25.
- Residing, working, or studying in the Canterbury Bankstown, Liverpool, or Fairfield LGAs.
