Tashlich 5786/2025 with the Jewish Council
Event description
Dear supporters,
The Jewish New Year period is once again upon us, and this year the Jewish Council will be holding an open gathering for Tashlich.
On Tashlich we visit a body of water to cast away our sins and prepare for the year to come, with a renewed resolve to conduct ourselves with care, compassion and justice. Bread crumbs are traditionally cast into the water as a symbol for our sins, but we ask that you bring a pebble or petal instead.
Please also bring a picnic blanket and some snacks if you want to join us for informal conversation after the conclusion of the ritual.
We will be meeting on Boathouse Drive in Alexandra Gardens.
Tzedakah is more important than ever as we continue oppose Israel’s genocide against the people of Palestine. As such, we ask for a donation of $5 per ticket to Olive Kids, a Palestinian-Australian charity dedicated to improving the lives of Palestinian children, through financial support, education & medical assistance.
We also ask that you purchase a ticket for a friend or family member and bring them along.
Our traditions direct us to pursue justice, and we hope that you will join us in doing this for Tashlich 5786
