The Disability Inclusion and Safeguarding Bill 2024, was tabled by Jo Palmer, Minister for Disability Services, in the Tasmanian Parliament on 19 June 2024. The Bill will be debated in the Tasmanian Parliament during 2024.

About the Bill:

The new legislation seeks to drive advance and safeguard the rights of all people with disability and advance the full and effective inclusion of all people with disability. The new legislation seeks to drive inclusion for all Tasmanians with disability through high quality and safe services and by supporting national and international commitments. The legislation establishes important new safeguards for people with disability. These include establishing the Tasmanian Disability Commissioner and ensuring contemporary quality and safety in the authorisation of restrictive practices.
