Tatreez, Tales, and Tea
Event description
After our successful Tatreez Workshop in Pōneke last year, Dar Al Salam (House of Peace) invites you to a unique workshop celebrating the art of Tatreez, a traditional form of Palestinian and Levantine embroidery. Led by a talented Palestinian community creative, this workshop aims to empower women of colour in Aotearoa New Zealand and beyond.
Date: Sunday 14 September 2025
Time: 11:00 AM - 3:00 PM
Location: Venue disclosed to registered participants
--Snacks Provided--
Palestinian Tatreez is not just an art form; it is a vital expression of cultural identity and resilience. In the face of occupation, this embroidery serves as a powerful means of cultural preservation and storytelling. By participating in this workshop, you are not only learning a beautiful craft but also joining a collective act of resistance against ongoing colonisation.
This event is an opportunity to connect with fellow women of colour in Tāmaki Makaurau (Auckland) and to create a supportive space for sharing and growth. Come with an open heart and an open mind as we explore the rich heritage of Tatreez and its significance in our lives.
Please Note: Registration is essential, and spaces are limited. Only register if you are committed to attending the full workshop and can arrive promptly at 11 AM. We look forward to sharing this meaningful experience with you!
