Tatreez Workshop with SAMARKAND: Patterns of Return 4
Event description
Tatreez Workshop with SAMARKAND سمرقند Patterns of Return
Thursday December 4th. 6:30pm – 8:30pm
Unassigned Gallery, Brunswick
All materials provided. Hosted by Made in Palestine and the Stitch Intifada.
Join us for our final Tatreez Workshop of 2025.
‘Patterns of Return’ is a series of community workshops dedicated to the rich heritage of Palestinian tatreez, led by Bethlehem-based artist Samar Abedrabo (Samarkand).
Across the past three months, these workshops have continued to build participants’ technical skills and cultural understanding of tatreez, tracing the origins of its motifs through the natural landscapes of Palestine. Together, we have reflected on tatreez as both a personal and collective practice—one that preserves memory, connects us to land, and resists erasure through every stitch.
This final session will bring together returning participants and new faces alike to stitch, share, and reflect on the body of work created throughout the year as we move towards our upcoming group exhibition.
All materials will be provided, and hands-on assistance will be available through the Made in Palestine and Stitch Intifada teams.
Join us in celebrating the close of this year’s Patterns of Return series — a space for learning, conversation, and community through the living art of tatreez.
Further Details:
All tatreez materials will be provided, and hands-on assistance will be available through the Made in Palestine and Stitch Intifada teams. Participants are also invited to bring along any fabrics, threads, or personal projects they would like to work on. You are encouraged to bring questions about particular motifs and patterns, as this will be a chance to learn directly from Samar and deepen your understanding of tatreez through conversation as well as practice.
